Senior Data Engineer – OLTP Focus (Python | AWS RDS MySQL | SQL | DBT)

Role Overview:

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to design and build high-performance transactional data solutions that support mission-critical business systems and analytics initiatives.

This role will focus on OLTP-driven data environments, building scalable data pipelines and robust data models using Python, SQL, DBT, and AWS RDS MySQL. The ideal candidate will have strong experience working with high-volume transactional datasets, ensuring reliability, performance, and data integrity across operational platforms.

You will collaborate with global stakeholders across engineering, analytics, and product teams to enable data-driven decision-making and platform scalability.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines and ELT workflows supporting transactional (OLTP) systems.

• Build and maintain data transformation frameworks using DBT and SQL.

• Develop scalable data processing solutions using Python for automation and performance      optimization.

• Work extensively with AWS RDS MySQL to manage high-volume operational datasets.

• Ensure data quality,  validation, and governance standards across data platforms.

• Monitor and improve database  performance, query efficiency, and pipeline reliability.

• Collaborate with product, analytics, and engineering teams to translate business      requirements into data solutions.

• Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting mechanisms to support production-grade data systems.

• Contribute to architecture decisions related to data modelling, schema design, and system scalability.

Mandatory Skills & Experience (Hard Requirements)

• Strong Python programming experience for data engineering use cases.

• Hands-on expertise with AWS RDS (MySQL) in production environments.

• Advanced proficiency in SQL including query tuning and performance optimization.

• Practical experience  implementing DBT-based data transformation workflows.

• Solid background working with OLTP / transactional data systems (high-volume operational      databases).

• Minimum 5+ years of  experience in data engineering or backend data platform roles.

Good to Have

• Experience with AWS data ecosystem tools (S3, Glue, Lambda, etc.).

• Exposure to CI/CD practices and infrastructure automation.

• Understanding of data governance, observability, and data quality frameworks.

• Experience supporting analytics or reporting use cases built on transactional datasets.
